THE Easter Book Fair has joined the long list of central Victorian events cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Y Service Club of Bendigo said the decision was influenced by restrictions intended to slow the spread of the virus, such as social distancing.
"We appreciate that the service our club provides to thousands of people buying reading material will be missed," Colin Lambie, of the Y Service Club of Bendigo, said.
"As our major fundraiser for the year, it will also impact on the many local charities and organisations the club supports."
Hope still remains for the club's Spring Book Fair, which coincides with the AFL Grand Final weekend, providing restrictions have lifted by then.
The Y Service Club of Bendigo requested that book donations stop for a while.
"We ask the community to store the books they would normally donate until later in the year," Mr Lambie said.
He suggested people could recycle text books, encyclopaedias, old library books and magazines published more than two years ago.
