Bendigo's hospitality, maintenance, pet services and accommodation providers are just some of those who stepping up to help healthcare workers by offering a range of services during the coronavirus pandemic.
Bendigo Health director Robyn Lindsay said hospital staff are preparing to work hard and long hours in the face of coronavirus.
As part of Bendigo Health's staff health and wellbeing program, Ms Lindsay reached out to Be.Bendigo chief executive Dennis Bice.
"Be.Bendigo were able to match up the services and products available to healthcare workers to make their lives easier during this intense time," Ms Lindsay said.
"It's not about a financial gesture, but a way for us to help our staff pragmatically."
Petcarers provide pet sitting, dog walking and dog wash services with owner Sharon Moore aware of the challenges facing the healthcare industry.
"We want to do everything we can to support them," Ms Moore said.
Be.Bendigo chief executive Dennis Bice said despite the challenges facing businesses, it hasn't been hard to get their support.
"Businesses have been quite keen to play their part," Mr Bice said.
"What we have said to the business community is that anyone who thinks they can help, we are looking for those people to reach out and help."
Ms Lindsay said Bendigo Health is mindful that business community is doing it tough.
"We are happy to spend our money locally to get the goods and services we need and support local community businesses," Ms Lindsay said.
Edwards Providore, Fresh 5 Bendigo, Stars Trades and Barclay on View are just some of the varied businesses involved in this initiative.
Mr Bice said if any other industries are looking to start a similar program with local businesses, what has been set up is transferrable.
