The Bendigo Bear Hunt sees people put a teddy in the front windows of their homes to encourage a game of city-wide eye-spy for families.
One of the organisers Issy Kerr said her friend gave her the idea. So far, more than 100 houses had joined in the game through the Bendigo Bear Hunt Facebook page.
"We're not the original but I thought 'why not? it will get us out and about'. It's a gone a bit crazy which is good," Ms Kerr said.
"I suppose because everyone is at home now they can join in). It's something to do with kids. It's simple too, that's the beauty of it. You don't have to do anything but grab a teddy put it in you window.
"If it (became) like the Christmas lights it would be brilliant."
Ms Kerr also reminded people it was important to follow the advice of the government. She said the Bear Hunt was a family activity and if coroanvirus restrictions tighten, see will remove the page to encourage people to stay home.
