V/LINE has attributed a series of delays on the Bendigo train line to "a number of unrelated incidents".
A track equipment fault near Harcourt today delayed a mid-morning train from Bendigo to Melbourne by about 45 minutes.
Two other services were delayed while crews worked to repair the fault. Those delays are believed to have been less than 15 minutes.
No further services were expected to be impacted by that fault.
A train was unable to run and two services were delayed by about 40 minutes, due to additional congestion on the track in the afternoon.
Two trains were unable to run on Monday afternoon, after a track recording machine became disabled at Castlemaine.
An empty train had to travel from Melbourne to tow the machine out of the way of passenger services.
Catching the next available train was believed to have been assessed as the fastest available option for passengers at that time of the day.
A tree falling close to the line, and a track equipment fault in the section Bendigo services share with metropolitan trains are also believed to have been among the reasons for minor delays across some Bendigo line services on Monday afternoon.
"We thank passengers for their patience while we worked to get them to their destination following a number of unrelated incidents over the past 24 hours," a V/Line spokesperson said.
V/Line customers become eligible for compensation if they experience a delay of an hour or more in a single journey.
Myki pass holders might also be eligible for monthly performance compensation.
