ANYONE who came into contact with the Girton parent who tested positive to coronavirus will be contacted, a Department of Health and Human Services spokesperson said.
The department could not provide further details on the parent, including which local government area they reside in.
"The department is responding to cases as they are notified," the spokesperson said.
"The public can be confident that all close contacts will be identified and responded to accordingly as required to protect public health.
"As part of our contract tracing, any public exposure sites are contacted and provided with advice about the transmission risks and any cleaning that may be required."
The DHHS does not identify individual cases or their close contacts, the spokesperson said.
GIRTON Grammar School will remain open on Monday after a senior school parent tested positive to COVID-19.
Girton's acting head Emma O'Rielly said the school was following the advice of the Department of Health and Human Services.
"A senior school parent contacted the school last night (Sunday) and confirmed they had a positive diagnosis for coronavirus," Dr O'Rielly said.
"We activated our action plan as soon as we were notified and contacted DHHS. Acting on their advice, we will not be closing the school today (Monday).
"The family of the infected parent is under DHHS directive is to self-isolate.
"Some parents and staff may choose not to attend school today and we have made it clear that we support and respect whatever decision families make at this time."
Dr O'Rielly said there were a number of year 12 students who would be coming to school on Monday to complete School Assessed Coursework.

"We have maintained heightened vigilance at the school for some time as regards personal hygiene and monitoring for flu-like symptoms in staff and students," Dr O'Rielly said.
"In all matters relating to COVID-19, Girton Grammar will follow the advice of DHHS.
"We will continue to monitor the situation, and respond to DHHS, and we will alert our community promptly of any advice that we receive from authorities."
The parent would not be identified due to patient confidentially, Dr O'Rielly said.
A GIRTON Grammar senior school parent has tested positive to COVID-19.
In a message sent to parents late Sunday, Acting Head Dr Emma O'Rielly confirmed a family had gone into self-isolation following the diagnosis.
The Department of Health and Human Services has advised there is no need for the school to close.
Classes are expected to continue to operate on Monday.
