READ MORE - EVCA grand finals this weekend now cancelled
UNITED now has a 17th division one premiership after the Tigers were awarded the 2019-20 Emu Valley Cricket Association flag.
With no grand finals played at the weekend due to the coronavirus crisis, the EVCA board awarded premierships to the higher ranked of the grand final sides.
The decision means the Tigers are premiers in both division one and two and Mia Mia in division three section one, while California Gully won the division three section two flag the previous week.
United was scheduled to play Emu Creek in the weekend's division one grand final at Club Court.
The Tigers finished second on the ladder, while the Emus were fourth.
United was presented with its premierships by EVCA president Ron Gray at Ewing Park on Saturday morning.
"It's not the ideal way you want to win a premiership, but at the end of the day, we have the medals around our necks so we're still pretty happy," United captain Harry Whittle said.
"It will probably start to sink in at the end of the day that we haven't won one properly, but hopefully, we can get all the boys back together next season and go for it again."
The Tigers had a home and away season record of 10 wins, two losses and one draw before defeating Sedgwick in their semi-final.
The only teams they lost to were two sides that didn't make the finals - Maiden Gully (fifth) and Marong (seventh), while the Tigers were staring at a massive test in round three when Emu Creek made 314 before day two was washed out.
"Probably that loss to Marong just after Christmas forced us to knuckle down a bit more and put in those extra hard yards knowing that finals were coming up," Whittle said.
As well as being a premiership captain, Whittle has also won the EVCA's player of the year with 13 votes.
Including the semi-final, Whittle ended the season with 41 wickets and 385 runs.
"I suppose the individual stuff is good when it comes along, but it's all about the team accolades and getting a premiership medal around your neck... that's the main thing you target," Whittle said.
While United has the title of 2019-20 premiers, that wouldn't have been the case had - ironically - Emu Creek not upset top side Spring Gully by one wicket in their semi-final last week.
Meanwhile, there has been mixed results among the Whittle brothers in regards to the abandoning of grand finals this weekend.
While Harry and his brother Mac were on the right side of the outcomes with United, Mitch Whittle would have been part of Huntly-North Epsom's grand final team to play Strathdale-Maristians in the BDCA grand final.
However, that premiership went to the Suns courtesy of their higher finish than the Power.
