STRATHDALE-Maristians has been awarded the Bendigo District Cricket Association's first XI flag.
With the BDCA grand finals having been called off earlier this week due to the coronavirus crisis, the board met on Thursday night to determine who would be crowned premiers.
"Per Cricket Victoria rules, with the games being abandoned we have awarded the premierships to the grand final side that finished higher on the ladder," BDCA president Wayne Walsh said.
This weekend's first XI grand final was due to be fought out between Strathdale-Maristians and Huntly-North Epsom.
Ultimately, just one point has proven the difference between the Suns winning the premiership and the Power - who won one more game than Strathdale - having to settle for runners-up.
The Suns finished on top of the ladder with 70 points; the Power were second on 69.
Strathdale-Maristians' round 12 outright win over Bendigo at Bell Oval has ended up resulting in the flag for the Suns given they would have finished second without the maximum points.
Strathdale-Maristians' skipper Ben DeAraugo had said on Wednesday he felt the Suns deserved the premiership.
"It's not the way we'd want to win a premiership, but we believe we deserve it given we've finished on top of the ladder and defeated every other team, including Huntly-North Epsom twice (in season-proper and one-day final)," DeAraugo said.
The premiership is the Suns' sixth in the past 10 years and comes after they also won this season's Cricket Victoria Regional Big Bash and BDCA Keck-Findlay Shield one-day titles.
