An insurance claim for fire damage to some of the pool's storage areas has seen a decision about the pool's future brought forward a month, to tomorrow night's meeting.
The City of Greater Bendigo has recommended the pool remain open for a further four years, as further planning takes place.
Both the Golden Square Pool and nearby sporting clubs, like the Golden Square Football Netball Club, said the release of the council agenda on Friday was the first they saw of the recommendation.
Story continues below council agenda
Though pleased by the prospect of operating for a further four years, the Golden Square Pool committee of management said it had questions about the city's proposed course of action.
Golden Square Football Netball Club president Brendan Stewart said clubs wanted the opportunity to ask questions, too.
He said the issue wasn't the pool. It was the master plan for the reserve, which affected a number of sports clubs.
Golden Square Football Netball Club has been seeking to upgrade its facilities to account for growth, particularly in women's football.
But there was little scope for change, with the pool's future uncertain.
Mr Stewart said the Golden Square Football Netball Club hadn't heard from the council about the precinct since a master plan meeting in May last year.
"All we're asking for is the original month of April and a process where we have some sort of input," Mr Stewart said.

Golden Square Pool president Sam Kane said the committee of management was seeking clarification on several points in the recommendation, including the potential closure of the pool if repairs or replacements exceeded $20,000.
"The report also recommends a reduction in council funding to the pool," Mr Kane said.
"We're wanting to determine what this means in practice for our operation, the interpretation of points, and what other options might exist."
He said the Golden Square Pool wouldn't want to see a decision made on its future, or that of the whole precinct, unless all the questions in the community had been answered.
The matter is still scheduled to go before council tomorrow night.
