With the coronavirus crisis intensifying, the AFL announced on Monday evening that all state league and national and state talent programs across Australia had been postponed.
As a result, the Pioneers won't train or play matches until at least May 31.
"The decision was collectively agreed upon based on the part-time nature of these competitions and the financial implications for the state league clubs and state leagues,'' the AFL statement said.
"This decision is effective until May 31.
"The AFL will continue to explore all fixturing alternatives to ensure matches are played, however, acknowledges the situation is fluid and any decision made may change."
The Pioneers' under-18 boys were scheduled to start their NAB League season this weekend, while the under-18 girls are three rounds into their 10-round home and away season.
At this stage, players in the Pioneers' program can return to their local clubs for training and matches.
Bendigo, Heathcote, Loddon Valley and North Central football leagues are in discussions with AFL Central Victoria to determine if or when their respective leagues will potentially start their 2020 seasons.
The HDFNL has already scrapped its proposed stand-alone season-opener between White Hills and Mt Pleasant on March 28.
Round one for the HDFNL and LVFNL is scheduled for April 4, the BFNL is scheduled to start on Good Friday, April 10, with the North Central set to start on April 18.
However, it appears most likely those dates will be pushed back.
May 2 is one date the leagues are looking at as a proposed kick-off.
