The march was due to take place at Lake Weeroona on Sunday morning. The event was also taking place in other cities, including Melbourne and Wagga Wagga.
Melanoma Institute Australia chief executive Matthew Browne said the cancellations were in the interests of the health and safety of all participants and attendees.
"This decision has not been made lightly," Mr Browne said. "However protecting the health of our dedicated community members and their families who run and attend these events, many of whom are cancer patients, is paramount.
"We will be offering full refunds for registrations, and will provide further information shortly regarding that process."
Mr Browne said the organisation was planning to hold a virtual Melanoma March event on March 29, with further details about the event to come.
"My sincere apologies and thanks particularly to our volunteer committees who work tirelessly to put on their local Melanoma March events every year," he said.
It comes after Cancer Council Victoria decided to cancel all Relay for Life events for March and April. The Bendigo event was scheduled to run on April 17 and 18.
