Noeline Keogh's Eaglehawk home of almost 40 years sustained significant damage when a car slammed through the lounge room wall in the middle of the night on December 7.
Mrs Keogh's late husband Bryan, who died in 2018, had built the house himself.
The house was uninsured at the time of the crash because Mrs Keogh was unable to afford both the mortgage and insurance payments.
She was faced with the cost of extensive repairs to the house and replacing damaged items, which she could not afford.
She suffered more blows in January, when a friend died and sentimental items were stolen from her car.

But Mrs Keogh's daughter Sally Honeychurch said a number of people and businesses had donated materials and time to put the house back together.
So far, she said, the wall had been rebuilt, trusses in the roof fixed, plastering and painting finished, and some of the electrical work done.
Mrs Keogh said it was overwhelming to see the support she had received during her time of need, much of it from people she didn't even know.
"I'm lost for words. I can't believe it," she said.
"Just beautiful, beautiful people."
Mrs Keogh has now been able to move back to her house, although further work is needed.
If it were not for the help of these people, she said, she would be homeless.

One of those people is Ryland Bell, who on Thursday coloured and shaved his hair to raise money for Mrs Keogh.
Mr Bell - who has fundraised for numerous individuals and causes - learned of Mrs Keogh's situation reading the Bendigo Advertiser and wanted to help.
"If I see someone who's in a bad situation or had a run of bad luck, I don't like to see that, and if I can alleviate that burden or pain, I'll do whatever I can," he said.
The Shining Bright salon in King Street, where Mr Bell had his hair coloured and shaved, has a collection tin.
The Rotary Australia World Community Service will match donations made to Mrs Keogh, up to $15,000, in a fundraiser sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bendigo Strathdale.
There is also a crowdfunding page on GoFundMe, set up by a friend, which has collected $3400.
