Victorian opposition's call to create bushfire recovery role

THE Liberal-Nationals are calling on the state government to appoint a bushfire recovery minister.
It comes after a shadow cabinet reshuffle, which saw Nationals leader Peter Walsh gain a newly-created portfolio.
Mr Walsh was today named Shadow Minister for Bushfire Recovery, adding to his existing responsibilities.
The reshuffle was prompted by former shadow minister Mary Wooldridge's departure from parliament, which was announced in December.

Mr Walsh is the member for Murray Plains and the deputy leader of the opposition.
His existing shadow ministerial roles include regional Victoria and decentralisation, agriculture and Aboriginal affairs.
Member for Euroa, Steph Ryan remained deputy leader of the Nationals. She would continue in shadow ministerial roles regarding water, regional public transport and gaming and liquor regulation.
Member for Ripon, Louise Staley, remained shadow treasurer and shadow minister for economic development.
