A swag of of the region's trainers will be aiming for a winner, headed by Bendigo trainer Jarrod Robinson, who will saddle up four runners.
Best of his chances is likely the stayer King Joey, who will target victory in a 2400m benchmark 58 event.
Among his 12 rivals is the Kyneton-trained topweight Kazoom, who will be having his third start for his new trainer George Osborne.
Robinson will also have The Talking Toff, Cape Mount and Radical in action.
Bendigo trainer Shane Fliedner will pin his hopes of a victory on Travail in the 1600m benchmark 58.
The three-year-old broke through for an overdue win last month at Wangaratta before finishing ninth in metropolitan class at Sandown.
A similar effort to his Wangaratta run would see the gelding well in contention on his home track.
Sutton Grange trainer Brent Stanley has a pair of strong chances in Disenchanted and Bendigo Poet, who followed an impressive debut win at Benalla with a fourth at Bendigo on February 5.
Kyneton trainer Mick Sell will debut a pair of first starters in Ines Glory and Rockinthefreeworld in a 1400m maiden.
Today's meeting will be the last before the club's Saturday standalone Golden Mile raceday on March 28.
