A number of people called the emergency service about 5.10pm on Monday after the truck, which was loaded with hay, caught alight.
The truck driver pulled to the side of the road on the Midland Highway.
Firefighters controlled the fire by 5.40pm.
Two tankers from Huntly and a pumper from Bendigo attended.
Police are also on scene.
The highway is closed to traffic between George's Bakehouse and the Huntly Primary School. Police are directing traffic.
