THE COUNTRY Fire Authority is monitoring a haystack fire near Rochester after 100 bales caught alight in the early hours of Monday morning.

Crews were called to the blaze on Byrne Road, Nanneella about 1.45am.
The fire was contained about 2.12am.
A CFA spokesperson said there was no immediate threat to the community and no action was required.
Smoke could be visible to neighbouring roads and communities, the spokesperson said.
CFA crews will remain on scene on Monday to monitor the fire.
