What started out as an idea a few years ago between a few mates, has grown into something much bigger thanks to the commitment of all involved with the program.
Each year participation keeps getting larger, with several new faces making their debut at the team's come and try day on Sunday at Harry Trott.
"All of the players are so passionate about football, but some never had a chance to participate once they finished juniors," Bendigo Suns chair Daniel Wridgway said.
"Our team gives them the opportunity to be involved with a football program.
"At the end of the day, one of our main aims is to be able to integrate some of the players into mainstream football."
The come and try day included several football drills, but the main purpose was for everyone involved with the team to come meet each other.
"It was great to see even more female participants get involved this year, as it has been one of our goals for the the future," Wridgway said.
The program started back in 2018, with the team eventually taking on the name, the Dockers.
After one season as the Dockers, the team partnered with South Bendigo FNC.
"Where we are now as a team is brilliant," Wridgway said.
Looking ahead to the future Wridgway said the team was determined to keep growing.
"We want to continue expanding the Northern Conference and get more teams from around the area involved," he said.
'Also in the works for the future might be the creation of a junior FIDA pilot program."
The team competes in the Victorian FIDA Football League Northern Conference.
The upcoming season's fixture was recently released, with the season set to kick off on Sunday April 19 in Echuca.
A highlight this year will be the Suns hosting round three of the tournament.
