Epsom to get skate park with volcano centrepiece

A VOLCANIC skate park inspired by a school student's request begins on Monday.
Aidan Baldwin was 12-years-old when he first met with the City of Greater Bendigo to discuss a skate park in the rapidly growing suburb.
His 2016 petition triggered planning for the $510,000 Epsom Village Green skate park.
The new park will include a quarter pipe, tapered bank, manual pad and a "masterpiece" volcano, mayor Margaret O'Rourke said.

"The design plans for the skate park were developed by the City in 2018 following extensive consultation with students from Epsom Primary School and Weeroona College and local residents," she said.
"The students played an important role in the project by helping to select the elements that they wanted included."
The council plans to spend $200,000 and the Bendigo Northern District Community Enterprise $10,000. The state and federal governments have each given $150,000.
Construction is expected to be completed by May.
