The science, technology, engineering and mathematics-focused centre is always on the look out for volunteers eager to learn new skills or put existing ones to good use.
The Discovery Centre's volunteer coordinator Clare Dullard said there are several volunteer opportunities available at the centre.
"One of our biggest programs for volunteers is the school holiday program.
"Every school holidays, we offer quite a few activities for children and their families.
"Volunteers participate by showing the children what the activity is and how it works," Mrs Dullard said.
Ashlyn McDonald has been a volunteer at the Discovery Center for more than two years.
"I was looking to volunteer and I was pointed towards the Discovery Centre.
"Every school holidays there is a general theme and we set up and help facilitate an activity that is related to that theme," Ms McDonald said.
The fun and friendly environment keeps Ms McDonald coming back for more.
"I have a lot of fun with it.
"I love working with kids.
"It's also a really good workspace and somewhere exciting to spend time at and volunteer," she said.
Volunteers are provided with adequate training to ensure they are comfortable with the activities and equipment.
Mrs Dullard said that any time people can volunteer is valuable.
"Two or three volunteers are needed in the centre every day during the school holidays.
"Even if people can do one shift per week during the school holidays, that's valuable.
"The shifts are about four hours long," Mrs Dullard said.
You don't have to be from a science, technology, engineering or mathematics background to volunteer, with school students and retirees welcome.
There are also volunteer opportunities in the workshop, where volunteers are tasked with making and fixing exhibits and undertaking handyperson skills.
"For that part of the volunteering program, people need to have some experience and confidence using tools.
"That group meets on a Tuesday morning and with dozens of exhibitions, volunteers are kept busy," Mrs Dullard said.
