The focus theme of Big Bookmark is "Cultivate", which acknowledges Bendigo's newly-bestowed status as a City of Gastronomy.
It is also an homage to the festival's commitment to cultivating all that makes life worthwhile - good ideas, the enjoyment of sharing and the pleasures of reading, writing and discussion.
The Big Bookmark program includes a 30-session series of events from 5pm on Friday, 8 May through to 9.15pm on Saturday, 9 May, with sessions running concurrently in three venues.
Satellite events will take place at the Bendigo Soldiers Memorial Institute Military Museum, Sutton Grange Winery and MacKenzie Quarters to complement the event.
After eight years as a winter festival, the Bendigo Writers Festival moved to autumn, with the next full festival planned to take place in May 2021.
Festival director Rosemary Sorensen said the move to May was a great decision.
"With big changes to the August cultural calendar in Melbourne, that opens up an enticing space for our city and region.
"It is time to take all the great things about the festival, its focus on quality and the much-admired use of excellent venues as well as the welcoming atmosphere, to make it even better," Ms Sorensen said.
The 2019 Bendigo Writers Festival attracted a record 5700 visitors and a 30 per cent increase in box office sales across the three day event.
You can book a ticket for every session and event at the Big Bookmark by accessing the program page from March 2 and clicking through to the box office.
There is also the option to buy a Capital Theatre Pass, which grants access to all ten sessions in the Capital Theatre only.
This pass is designed for those who plan to attend six or more sessions and simplifies the booking process.
