REAPPOINTED St. Kilda captain Jarryn Geary says he's excited by the club's off-season acquisitions combined with new coach Brett Ratten ahead of the 2020 AFL season.
Bendigo's Geary was announced as Saints' captain for the fourth year earlier this week and will lead a new-look St Kilda side that added five players during October's trade period.
"We've got five new players from other clubs (Brad Hill, Zak Jones, Dougal Howard, Paddy Ryder and Dan Butler) who should all slot into our starting 18," Geary said last weekend while back at his home club Eaglehawk for a junior registration day.
"Hopefully, Dylan Roberton, who has had a really tough couple of years (heart condition), comes back, and myself, Jake Carlisle and Dan Hanneberry only played five to seven games each last year.
"We managed to win nine games last year, which we weren't happy with, but adding in those players will, hopefully, help get us a few more wins to push towards September."
Meanwhile, Ratten is coaching the Saints following his six-game stint as interim coach last year replacing Alan Richardson.
"Ratts is great... he's a good family-orientated guy and is trying to bring a bit of history back to the club," Geary said.
"It's a fun place to be at the moment, albeit there's not much pressure on when it's the pre-season and it's all about training to get as strong and as fit as you can."
