SES crews have begun a line search at the scene of a fatal collision near Wedderburn after new information emerged.
They have joined detectives from the Major Collisions Unit and Australian Federal Police in the hunt for evidence about the crash that killed Ray Meadows and his guide dog on 2 June, 2019.
It follows a recent appeal to the public for information about the case, MCIU detective sergeant Jarrod Dwyer said.
"We had some information through Crime Stoppers which indicated there may be material evidence that is still located at the scene," he said.
"We reached out to members of the AFP and their specialist search team along with the SES to come back and re-search the area.
"The AFP have equipment Victoria Police don't have access to, directly but that may assist us scanning the area."
Detective Sergeant Dwyer declined to identify the equipment, citing operational requirements.
He said it would be inappropriate at this stage of the open investigation to say what police are searching for.
Police have received two separate reports from Crime Stoppers about evidence that could still be at the crash scene since the last appeal for information, Detective Sergeant Dwyer said.
"If we were to locate the evidence we are searching for we believe it would well-and-truly confirm the exact circumstances of what occurred," he said.
The driver of the car that hit Mr Meadows stopped at the scene following the crash and has provided a statement to police.
He has not been charged with anything in relation to the incident.
Police believe there were no independent witnesses or CCTV footage of the crash.
"What we would urge is that anyone with information that will help police identify the exact circumstances of what occurred should call Crime Stoppers or the Major Collision Investigation Unit direct to provide a statement," Detective Sergeant Dwyer said.
"That may be information that they have heard, even if they can't provide us with direct evidence of what they saw here."

Victoria Police's Major Collision Investigation Unit, the Australian Federal Police and SES volunteers will revisit the scene of a fatal collision in Wedderburn.
As part of an ongoing investigation into the collision between a man and a car in June last year, the units will comb the scene for more details.
The search comes after detectives received information through their enquiries and via Crime Stoppers that suggest the scene may contain further evidence that will assist with the investigation.
The Australian Federal Police will be utilising specialist equipment to assist with the search today.
Investigators were told the collision occurred when a 63-year-old man was walking south east along the Calder Highway with his guide dog when he was struck by a vehicle travelling in the same direction about 6.40am on June 2, 2019.
The man and his dog died at the scene.
The driver of a Toyota Corolla, a man aged in his 20s, stopped and helped before being transported to hospital with shock.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or with further information or dash cam footage can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
