However, he is thankful to be unscathed after a crash which left his car "pretty much destroyed".
Hickman was on the track for the first leg of the World Series Sprintcars Western Swing.
He added 231 points to the board on the first night at Esperance Speedway, but found trouble on the second night at Bunbury.
Hickman qualified 14th to start heat one from second position and was out in the lead when he was hindered by a puncture to his left rear tyre.
He went on to win heat two from pole position to put himself in 14th position ahead of the A Main race.
After a "hectic" start to the main race he was able to climb his way up to 10th.
"Then while making a pass rode a wheel mid-corner which sent him into the concrete wall," Hickman Motorsport team said on its Facebook page.
"Rusty is okay, we're thankful for his Fibreworks seat and strong J&J Chassis which both certainly did their job.
"The car is pretty much destroyed but Darren, Rusty and the boys will build another for the final nights at Perth Motorplex next weekend."
The World Series season wraps up next weekend with the two final rounds held in Perth.
Hickman currently sits eighth on the overall standings with 2354 points.
Four-time champion James McFadden currently leads with 3239 points.
The World Series is a 14-round event which started on Boxing Day at Murray Bridge.
The series travels across Australia, with events in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia.
