Presented by the Victorian Curriculum And Assessment Authority, the season highlights outstanding work in the areas of design, technology, research, multimedia and the cinematic, visual and performing arts.
Bendigo Senior Secondary College graduates Max Harris and Morgan McDermott will both perform in the theatre studies showcase after impressive solo performances during their exams.
"If you get a high A-plus, around 97 per cent, they invite you to audition," Harris said.
Harris will perform his own interpretation of Sweeney Todd songs The Barber and His Wife and My Friends while McDermott has intertwined three monologues from Anton Chekov's The Seagull.
McDermott said feeling immersed while watching theatre drove her to study it.
"For me it's the magic of a performance. That illusion of feeling so immersed in the entertainment industry," she said. "It's awesome to watch a show and feel like you are part of the story. I want to replicate that when I perform."
Girton Grammar School have had six representatives selected to participate in the Season of Excellence.
Georgia McMillan will perform a self-written dramatic solo while Jack Smith will present a King George III monologue from Alan Bennett's The Madness of King George.
Holly Notarangelo has composed a commically Aldi-theme musical piece featuring sounds of the supermarket, classical guitarist Elijah Alley will perform Danza Brazilia, Prue Wilkinson will exhibit one of her paintings for the season and Eliza Griffith will feature her Extend Investigation subject research as part of an oral presentation.
The pair said having so many Bendigo representatives at the Season of Excellence was exciting for the region.
"We're proud to be in a rural community and (performing alongside) Melbourne students," Harris said.
"We have grown up in such a lucky time with Bendigo Nexus youth theatre, Bendigo Theatre Company and Tribe (youth theatre) all there as well as the schools having theatre stuff going on.
"It's a fortunate time to be fans of performing arts. It's really good for Bendigo."
