Kyneton's Mick Sell will the start the ball rolling when he saddles up Carlingford in a 1300m benchmark 64 event.
He will be hoping for a repeat of the six-year-old gelding's second last run when he finished an eye-catching second over 1200m at Sandown on January 8, in a similar class event.
Carlingford has had one run in between for an eighth in a benchmark 70 at Sandown on January 22.
Searching for her first Victorian metropolitan win, Bendigo-based jockey Jess Philpot will ride Carlingford, who is rated a $34 chance in early betting.
Following a fighting win at Wangaratta on January 23, Shane Fliedner will target a 1400m benchmark 64 event with his three-year-old Travail ($61).
The nicely bred gelding has a win and one placing from six starts and will be ridden by two-kilogram claiming apprentice Teodore Nugent.
Best of the day's chances appears to be the Brent Stanley-trained Cryptic Jewel ($8) in the 1400m fillies and mares benchmark 70.
The five-year-old mare is chasing her second win in three starts this preparation, with Michael Walker in the saddle.
Kyneton's George Osborne has his hopes of a win pinned on Uptown Lily ($26) in the final event on the program, with the five-year-old mare backing up from a fourth at Moonee Valley last month, which followed a win at Burrumbeet on New Year's Day.
