Journalist Annika Smethurst will join former ABC host Jon Faine, Saturday Paper and Justinian journalist Richard Ackland and Deakin University Professor of Communication Matthew Ricketson for this year's Talking Justice event, hosted by ARC Justice and Loddon Campaspe Community Legal Centre with Goldfields Libraries.
"The overarching aim is to have a public conversation about big picture issues that have an impact on our rights," ARC Justice's Annika Kearton said.
The topic of this year's forum follows the raids on Ms Smethurst and the ABC offices in Sydney about eight months ago.
"We support the view that the community has the right to know what the government is doing in their name," Ms Kearton said.
There has been an unexpectedly strong response to the event and it has been moved to the Bendigo Town Hall to accommodate more participants.
The free event will be held on Monday, February 17 at 6.30pm.
