New Waverly Blues coach Tom Langford is a former team-mate and development coach of O'Sullivan with Richmond's VFL side and he couldn't be happier to have the classy utility's signature.
"Max and I have a great relationship through our time at Richmond,'' Langford said on Monday.
"I've targetted players that can help me climb Waverly climb a couple of ranks. Our first step in that is creating a more professional and fun environment, which is something Richmond does something really well.
"It's something that players that have been in that Richmond environment really enjoy, so there's a couple of other (Richmond) guys that have come across and Max has great personal relationship with those guys.
"The opportunity to be part of a system that was similar to what he experienced at Richmond, and work alongside a coach and players that he had good relationships with, was a pretty key part for Max."

O'Sullivan split his time as a forward and midfielder for Kyneton and kicked 100 goals in 70 senior games.
Langford plans to use O'Sullivan as a permanent forward in division three of the EFL.
"Max will be a goal scorer. He'll be given a chance to use his strengths,'' Langford said.
"He's very hard to stop on a lead with his pace and agility. He's an underrated mark and he's incredibly clean with his hands and feet.
"He's someone we consider as a real weapon in attack. We won't use him as a small forward, we'll play him as genuine forward."
O'Sullivan lives in Melbourne and is studying a medical degree.
O'Sullivan's departure from his home club is a body blow for a rebuilding Kyneton side that finished eighth in 2019.
Club great Nathan Thompson is the new senior coach and he'll also continue to mentor the under-18s.
Meanwhile in the HDFNL, former Richmond player Daniel Connors has quit Colbinabbin and signed with Southern Football League club St Kilda City.
Connors, who played 29 AFL games with Richmond between 2007 and 2012, only played six senior games for Colbo in 2019 and kicked 21 goals.
St Kilda City will be Connors' third club in three years, having spent one season with Sandhurst in the BFNL in 2018.
