Among the team's roster are several players which York is keen to retain for her second season as coach.
"Immediately we look at rosters to figure out who we retain, who we look at and where the budget is at," York said.
"The planning never stops and we will keep rolling through as we want to be on the front foot."
Among the players already signed are Carley Ernst and Alicia Froling, but there are a couple others also on her radar, including Shyla Heal and Demi Skinner.
"Hopefully we have given her (Heal) the opportunity and has enjoyed her time here in Bendigo," York said.
"Naturally like most sports, everyone else will be circling her name, she will definitely be sought after.
"Shyla has her aims. She wants to try-out for the NBA in 2022 and move forward in a point-guard spot so we need to have discussions with her as we really want to retain her."
In her first year with the Spirit, Heal finished as the team's top scorer with 254 points, an average of 12.1 per game.
With off season fast approaching, York hoped many of the current players would make the decision to stay with the Spirit.
"We're in a professional basketball league and for myself as coach, I need people that want to come back to play for me and Bendigo," York said.
"There's lots of players out there. With only eight teams and ten spots per side once you take out imports, there's only a certain amount of places left."
Spirit vice-captain said both Heal and Skinner had stood out as players.
"Demi killed it and did so well at showing how good she is, really exciting talent to watch," Ernst said.
"I hope we can keep them (Heal and Skinner), I will definitely be in their ears to make sure they stay on."
Ernst said it was disappointing for the team to finish the season without a spot in the finals.
"But it was good to finish off with a win. We lost to Sydney on Thursday and we wanted to get a win (against Townsville) for Gabe's last game, which we did, so it was a nice way to send her off," she said.
Gabe Richards who was playing in her final career game took to the court, closing out with 11 points and six rebounds in the 20-point win over Townsville.
Heading into the off season Ernst will return to the NBL1 with the Waverley Falcons with new skills picked up throughout the recent season with the Spirit.
"I've learnt I'm not just an outside shooter," Ernst said
"I can take the game into the post, drive the ball and have improved my rebounding and defence.
"I've learnt a lot from both of the coaches which I will take into the NBL1 this year."
