Members of Neangar Park Golf Club are celebrating Lucas Herbert's breakthrough win at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
Several members were up until the early hours on Monday morning to watch the Neangar Park product seal his first win as a professional.
"I would say half of the club's members were up watching judging by all of the comments on our Facebook page," Neangar Park GC president Phil DeAraugo said.
"It was just amazing to watch, everything just fell into place for him.
"But also in saying that he played some fantastic golf. He finished his final round with two birdies and then to win on the second play-off hole with a birdie was incredible."
DeAraugo has known Herbert for more than a decade and recalled his strong ability as a junior.
"It has been great to watch him rise from a junior to now a European Tour winner.
"He is a very down to Earth man who has always had a competitive streak, it's a well deserved win for him."
DeAraugo said the club looked forward to Herbert's return to the club.
"We love it when he comes back to visit the club," DeAraugo said.
"We usually keep a lid on it when he is here as it's usually just relaxation for him when he comes to play.
"But this time it will be hard to not let it get out. This is definitely worth celebrating, we will blow the lid off it," DeAraugo laughed.
Herbert will remain in the Middle East this week to play in the Saudi International, before returning home to Australia to compete in the Vic Open at 13th Beach Golf Club.
"We will be taking a few busloads of our members down to the Vic Open to watch him. We hope he does well there too," DeAraugo said.
