STRATHDALE-Maristians has long been renowned as the BDCA's modern day power club and now gets the chance to show its wares on the state stage.
Over the past 10 years the Suns have won five BDCA premierships, five Twenty20 titles and four one-day shields.
On Sunday they have the opportunity to add Cricket Victoria Regional Big Bash champions to their list of accomplishments.
The Suns will take on Mornington-Peninsula team Langwarrin in Sunday's final at the Junction Oval from 10am.
"Everyone is really excited about the opportunity," Suns' Twenty20 captain Cameron Taylor said on Friday.
"We've got to try to put it on hold though until Sunday because we've got an important game on Saturday (against White Hills) that we need to focus on first, but it's hard not be excited for the opportunity."
The Suns won their way through to Sunday's decider following a remarkable get-out-of-jail win over Haig-Fawkner in last weekend's Renegades Conference final at Strathdale.
Needing 166 to win, the Suns were on the ropes at 6-62 after 10 overs, before a stunning fightback spearheaded by Daniel Clohesy (54 off 29) and Linton Jacobs (38 n.o. off 26) lifted Strathdale to a two-wicket win.
Langwarrin earned its berth in Sunday's match by beating Lavington by seven wickets in the Stars conference grand final.
Langwarrin - which plays on synthetic wickets - has an imposing Twenty20 record behind it, having won 34 of its past 35 T20 matches over the past three years.
"Watching them last week, they look like a very solid team. They had a lot of variety in their bowling, including three spinners, and looked like they had clear plans with their bowlers, plus some strong batters," Taylor said.
In a boost for the Suns, they welcome back star paceman Chris Sole, who was unavailable last week.
