The former White Hills keeper-batsman has been added to the Renegades squad for their final two matches of the BBL season as an injury replacement for Sam Harper.
Harper suffered concussion after a heavy fall while batting in the Renegades' loss to Hobart earlier this week.
The Renegades play the Sydney Sixers at the SCG on Saturday before returning home to face the Brisbane Heat at Marvel Stadium on Monday afternoon.
Should Stepien make his BBL debut on Saturday he'll potentially face a Sixers side stacked with Steve Smith, Nathan Lyon and Josh Hazelwood.
Stepien joins former Sandhurst spinner Liam Bowe as BDCA products in BBL ranks.
Stepien produced two superb T20 innings at the perfect time earlier this week.
Those standout performances come on the back of consistent form for Carlton at Premier Cricket level.
Last season Stepien made 755 runs at an average of 54 for Carlton as the Blues won the Premier Cricket premiership.
Through 11 matches this season he's made 465 runs at an average of 52, including two centuries.
Stepien made 90 off 156 balls and hit 11 fours and two sixes.
