The celebrations are held all over Asia and within Asian communities all over the world.
These celebrations acknowlede the beginning of spring (in the northern hemisphere) as well as the beginning of a new year.

LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS
This Lunar New Year event in Bendigo is a free, fun, family day out which will include food, refreshments and entertainment.
There will also be performances from the Plum Blossom Dancers, Bendigo Chinese Association Lion Team and Lion Cubs as well as a Dragon Display.
Where: Golden Dragon Museum and Chinese Gardens, 1/11 Bridge Street, Bendigo.
When: Saturday, January 25, 6pm to 8pm.
LUNAR NEW YEAR AT THE GREAT STUPA
The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion will be celebrating the Lunar New Year until February 3.
The Great Stupa will allow attendees to receive a free lucky gift, place wishes of a new beginning on the Bodhi trees, tour inside the Great Stupa and view the Jade Buddha, view Buddhist holy relics, enjoy various vegetarian and vegan foods and much more.

LUNAR FESTIVITIES
Hargreaves Mall will come alive with traditional celebrations for Lunar New Year.
This event will include Chinese performances from the Central Victorian Lion Team, featuring Southern Lion, Fu Wa Danvers and Dragon Teams.
Entertainment is free.
Where: Hargreaves Mall, Bendigo.
When: Saturday, January 25, 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
