MISSING Serpentine man Ian Whinfield has been found dead as police searched the Pyrenees Range State Forest.
Police and emergency services found what they believe to be Mr Whinfield's body during their planned search just before midday.
The 82-year-old Mr Whinfield was last seen by family on December 25.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner, but Mr Whinfield's death is not being treated as suspicious.
Ballarat local area commander Inspector Dan Davison thanked community, media and all those who helped search for Mr Whinfield.
Earlier
Police will ramp up their search efforts for missing Serpentine man Ian Whinfield today.
Mr Whinfield, 82, was last seen on Christmas Day (December 25) after attending a family lunch in Lake Bolac.
On December 26, police were notified Mr Whinfield had not returned home after leaving Lake Bolac about 4pm on December 25.
A search discovered Mr Whinfield's red Nissan ute on Emery Track, Glenpatrick, on December 27.
Following a large-scale response, the search for Mr Whinfield was scaled back but has continued.
The Search and Rescue Squad, Mounted Branch, SES volunteers, uniform members and detectives will assist with the search today.
Police have released an image of Ian and his truck in the hope that someone may be able to provide more information on his whereabouts.
He was last seen wearing green slacks, a green shirt, cap and brown shoes.
Ian's disappearance is not being treated as suspicious.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen Ian or his vehicle between 25 and 27 December to contact Avoca Police Station on 03 5465 3300.
