The 24-year old Neangar Park product made the cut after carding two strong three-under par performances in rounds one and two.
However, his form dipped during the weekend, finishing round three on Saturday at four-over par and the final round on Sunday at three-over.
A costly mistake for Herbert on Saturday was carding three double-bogeys at the challenging par-72 Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
He finished the tournament with a final score of one-over to be T67 on the leaderboard.
The tournament was won by England's Lee Westwood who finished at 19-under par to take his 25th European Tour victory.
Herbert will compete in the Middle East for the next two weeks at further tournaments, first up is the Dubai Desert Classic followed by the Saudi International.
