MORE FOOTBALL - Bendigo Addy FOOTY HQ
WEDDERBURN and Wycheproof-Narraport shared seven of the 10 premierships between them for the 2010-19 decade in the North Central league.
The Redbacks (four) and Demons (three) were two of five clubs that won senior flags throughout the decade, with St Arnaud (2015), Charlton (2016) and league newcomers Sea Lake Nandaly (2019) also savouring premiership success.
Wycheproof-Narraport won the first flag of the decade with a 44-point grand final win over Boort, before Wedderburn won four flags on the trot by a combined 23 points, starting with the see-sawing 2011 grand final against the Demons in a game where 35 goals were kicked before the Redbacks prevailed by nine points, 18.16 (124) to 17.13 (115).
Then followed a one-point grand final win in 2012 over St Arnaud, which had trailed by 26 points at three quarter-time, a 12-point victory over Charlton in 2013, and a one-point extra time win over the Navies again in 2014.
Wycheproof-Narraport later followed up its 2010 flag with back-to-back premierships in 2017 and 2018, while ending the decade as the club with the most senior wins with 111, followed by Wedderburn's 97.
All clubs apart from Donald played in at least one grand final during the decade.
With the 2010-19 decade completed, the Addy has taken a look back at the past 10 years for each NCFL club to identify the top-ranked players for each using the 6-5-4-3-2-1 voting system off the weekly best players, as well as the top 10 goalkickers.
Across the competition Wycheproof-Narraport half-back Boe Bish, a two-time Des Darcy medallist on grand final day, earned the most best player votes with 330, followed by Birchip-Watchem ruckman Zac Holmes (310).
Topping the goalkicking was Wedderburn superboot Sam Barnes with 522, which included the decade's biggest haul of 15 against Birchip-Watchem in 2013, followed by Corey Jones' 379 goals for the Demons.
