Racing on invitational basis, Watson completed the 3000m duel in just over 11 minutes.
A field of 14 contested the 7and-a-1/2 lap race at the La Trobe University Bendigo Athletics Complex in Retreat Road, Flora Hill.
The veterans were to the fore as four of the top six placegetters were in the 40-plus age bracket or higher.
Watson, 48, was victorious ahead of Eaglehawk's Trevor Kelly, 11:31; and Bendigo Harriers' Mychael Baker, 12:15.
First female and fourth overall was Anne Buckley from Bendigo Harriers in 12:16.
Next were University's Mason Woodward, 12:21, and Harriers' clubmates Eric Baker, 13:17, and Yvette Palmer, 13:28.
Distance for next Tuesday's race at LUBAC is 3000m. Racing starts at 7pm.
