BENDIGO police have uncovered a stolen car that was left at the bottom of a dam.

Bendigo Tasking Team Sergeant Joel Smith said members of the Quarry Hill Golf Club noticed the top of the vehicle poking out of the dam on January 8.
They notified police who, with the help of a tow truck, were able to identify the ute.
Sergeant Smith said the vehicle was stolen in 2014.
"We think someone drove it around the golf course and then drove it into the dam," he said.
"But because the dam was so full at the time, nobody was able to see it until now."
Sergeant Smith said the original owner of the stolen ute was able to recover some tools that had been left in the car.
He said with water levels continuing to drop around the region, he wouldn't be surprised if other items were uncovered.
"These things do tend to happen historically as lakes and dams start to dry up," Sergeant Smith said.
Police have no leads on who stole the vehicle, as no forensic evidence was left on the ute.
