V/Line will replace more than 48,000 timber sleepers with concrete sleepers between Sunbury and Bendigo. The program will cost $16.1 million.
The temporary timetable would reflect temporary speed restrictions along the line, a V/Line spokesperson said. The works should be completed by February 4.
The following weekday services to Melbourne will depart between one to two minutes earlier at all V/Line stations along the line:
- The 5.31am and 6.20am services from Eaglehawk to Southern Cross will depart one minute earlier.
- The 5.56am service from Epsom to Southern Cross will depart one minute earlier.
- The 5.05am service from Bendigo to Southern Cross will depart two minutes earlier.
- The 5.12am service from Kyneton to Southern Cross will depart two minutes earlier.
- The 5.53am Saturday service from Bendigo to Southern Cross will depart two minutes earlier.
- The 12.54pm Swan Hill to Southern Cross will depart one minute earlier.
The following services will have an additional journey time of up to 17 minutes:
- The 7.22am service from Kyneton to Southern Cross will be delayed by 14 minutes.
- The 8.01pm service from Bendigo to Southern Cross will be delayed by 17 minutes.
Most other services will arrive between two to five minutes later than the normal timetable.
