Firefighters will remain at the scene blacking out and monitoring the site throughout the day.
Road closures remain in place on Barnadown-Myola and Dobie roads.
Tuesday, 5.35pm
It is estimated 290 hectares were burned as a result of the fire in Myola this afternoon.
The grass fire is contained and crews are continuing to work to put it out.
4.10pm
FIREFIGHTERS have downgraded a watch and act message for the Myola fire after bringing it under control.
It says there is currrently no threat to anyone in Colbinabbin, Colbinabbin West, Cornella, Cornella East, Muskerry, Myola, Runnymede or Toolleen.

- Keep the roads clear so emergency services can respond.

3.20pm
A TRUCK believed to have been carrying hay has been burnt out in the fire.
Two CFA tankers are at the wreckage on the corner of Barnadown-Myola Road and Mcnamara Road.
Firefighters are inspecting what remains of its load to make sure hot-spots are dealt with.
The fire has been declared under control but a watch and act message remains in place.
Twenty-nine CFA vehicles remain at the scene.
2.50pm
VICROADS has now closed the Northern Highway at Ladys Pass and is only allowing emergency services vehicles in.
Visibility is at zero kilometres on the Northern Highway.
It's believed the road will be closed north to Elmore.
Drivers have been warned to stay clear of the area, use headlights, and pull over if the smoke becomes too much.
Emergency Management Victoria believes the fire ground currently encompasses an area stretching from Dobie Road north to Barnadown-Myola Road, and Mcnamara Road west and over Grogan Road.
35 CFA appliances are on scene.
2.40pm
A SWIRLING breeze has forced locals at the scene to move as the flames change direction, but the fire is largely moving in a north to northwesterly direction.
It is burning through paddocks and some flames are as high as a B-double truck.
Helicopters are using a nearby dam to refill as it helps more than thirty trucks fight the grass fire.
Police are helping manage the bushfire zone.
2.30pm
EMERGENCY crews have asked VicRoads for help to close the Northern Highway on a stretch between Elmore and Toolleen.
The fire is not on the highway but there is thick smoke in the area.
VicRoads is preparing to dispatch a team to the road but is unable to confirm whether or not emergency services have already closed the road.
2.10pm
A WATCH and act order has been issued for the grassfire, which remains out of control.
Twenty trucks are now responding to the blaze 8.5km north of Toolleen.
The watch and act message is for Colbinabbin, Colbinabbin West, Cornella, Cornella East, Muskerry, Myola, Runnymede, Toolleen.
- There is a grassfire at Myola that is not yet under control.
- This grassfire is travelling in a northerly direction.
Authorities urge you to stay close to a building so you can shelter in. That is the safest option as conditions can change suddenly.
Continue to stay informed and monitor conditions.

- Monitor changes, including increased wind speed, change in wind direction, smoke or poor visibility that indicated the situation is changing.
- If you are away from home, do not return.
If the situation changes you will need to leave quickly. Plan to:
- Take your pets, medications, mobile phone and charger.
- Travel to the home of family or friends that are away from the warning area.
- Emergency Services may not be able to help you if you decide to stay.

FIREFIGHTERS are responding to a grass fire burning out of control on land in Myola, near Colbinabbin.
The fire is taking place at the intersection of Barnadown-Myola Road and Mcnamara Road.
Eleven trucks are responding. Three are already on scene and eight more are on their way.
Firefighters at the scene have also requested air assistance.
