The awards are a community event, designed to celebrate schools, groups, individuals, businesses and organisations that are innovative and making changes that contribute towards a more sustainable way of life.
Bendigo Sustainability Group president Trevor Smith said award categories include business, agriculture, early childhood, primary and secondary schools, community groups and sustainable homes and gardens.
"We know there are members of the Bendigo community who are doing great things for the environment and the awards aim to highlight these to the wider community," Mr Smith said.
Previous award winners have demonstrated innovative ways of being more sustainable, reducing waste or adding renewable energy to their homes and businesses.
Past winners include Eppalock Primary School for its Living Green program and Victory Christian College for instilling responsibility into the mindset of students around sustainability practices and awareness for the environment.
The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, March 28 at the Bendigo Town Hall.
The ceremony will feature guest speaker Jerry Coleby-Williams.
Mr Coleby-Williams is an internationally renowned horticultural botanist, conservationist and writer.
He is also the Director of Seed Savers Network, a not-for-profit organisation that has organised gardeners and farmers to collect, multiply and redistribute garden seeds in Australia and within less fortunate communities worldwide.
