Her grandfather Bill Lister, wrote the version of Little Red Riding Hood pantomime Bendigo Theatre Company is presenting from Monday.
Bill wrote the script for the Red Cliffs Musical Society years ago and it has been performed regularly since.
"My grandfather is a life member with Red Cliffs Musical Society and has been a committee member, set builder, director, performer and wrote a collection of pantos they do at Christmas," Kerry said.
"I'm not 100 per cent sure when it was originally performed. I know our director Loretta (Kingston-Brown) performed in it when she was a young girl, which makes it relatively old.
"The last time I saw it was in 2003 with Red Cliffs and my grandfather directed it. It's been kicking around for few years."
Bill isn't well enough to travel from Merbein to see his granddaughter perform but Kerry plans of taking plenty of photos and some footage to show him.
"Some of the gags in the script, they're things I am very familiar with because it's his type of humour," Kerry said. "There's a lot of old flavour to this script which reminds of the type of theatre maker he is. It's really cool."
Kerry's role of the villainous Mother Wolf is her first time performing in seven years.
"It's great to get into something, perform with BTC and some people I worked with on and off stage over the years," she said.
"Over the seven years I have also written scripts for Tenx10, stage managed shows with Tribe Youth Theatre and been a mentor stage manager. I was also a stage manager for Wicked last year, which was an epic adventure."
"I believe in being a theare artist and putting my hand up to try different bits and pieces that are around. It opens your eyes to how much work goes on in theatre, whether it is behind the scenes or as an actor or a writer."
BTC's Little Red Riding Hood is on at the Girton Black Box Theatre from January 13 to 26. For details visit www.gotix.com.au
