Police are investigating both incidents, but could not confirm whether they were related.
Offenders broke in to the Shell Service station on Napier Street, Epsom, about 2.30am on December 30.

Police say offenders smashed the door in, but nothing was taken.
At 3.45am offenders entered a hobby shop on the McIvor Highway, East Bendigo.
A number of items were stolen, while the front door was damaged.
Anyone with information about either burglary has been asked to contact Detective Senior Sergeant Debbie Graham at the Bendigo Police Station, on 5448 1300.
