UPDATE 3.45pm: An 87-year-old man has escaped injury after crashing his car into the Bendigo East Bowling Club building on Tuesday afternoon.
It is believed the man, a member of the club, might have mistaken gears and gone into drive, rather than reverse while in the car park.
His car went down a small slope and into the building, causing significant damage.
Sergeant Mick McCrann from Bendigo Highway Patrol said the building would have to be assessed.
Sergeant McCrann said a medical review into the man's ability to drive would also be conducted, a process that was usually undertaken in consultation with VicRoads and a person's GP.
Police, CFA, paramedics and the SES all attended the scene.
No one was evacuated from the building.

EARLIER: A car has crashed into the side of the Bendigo East Bowling Club.
Emergency services were called to the crash on Lansell Street about 3.18pm on Tuesday.
No one was trapped in the vehicle.
More to come.
