A NEW West Bendigo club record score of 235 n.o. and a hat-trick among extraordinary figures of 7-5 highlighted a day of action in the Emu Valley Cricket Association on Saturday.
Spring Gully's Alex Sutton was the catalyst for the Crows routing Mandurang for a paltry 40 at Pearce Reserve.
Bowling first change and coming into the attack in the 12th over, Sutton bagged a stunning 7-5 off seven overs.
His haul included a hat-trick on the second, third and fourth balls of his first over when he removed Shaun Candy (lbw), James Pietromonaco (caught Rhys Webb) and Sean Rashleigh (lbw) in consecutive deliveries.
Meanwhile, West Bendigo's Travis O'Connell blasted the second double century of his career with an unbeaten 235 against California Gully.
The opener batted through the innings, facing 239 balls and belting 27 boundaries and 10 sixes in the Redbacks' total of 6-359.
O'Connell had already been the holder of the Redbacks' club record score of 208 n.o. made against United in round six of 2017-18, but he has now raised the benchmark.
Spring Gully's Shaun Makepeace (107) and Emu Creek's Luke Bennett (109) also made tons on Saturday.
FULL WRAP STILL TO COME
