Watt will compete at Archery Australia's National Para Championships where a top three performance in the outdoor 50m event for seated archery will put him in contention for a berth on the Australian team for next year's Paralympics.
Next year's event at Mt Petrie Bowman in Queensland will be Watt's second time competing at the National Para Championships.
He first competed in 2018 where he came second in the indoor (18m) event and fourth in the outdoor.
"I'm aiming to go one better and get the gold in the indoor this time and if I can get a placing in the top three in the outdoor then I will, hopefully, get put on the Australian team and be on my way to Tokyo," Watt said on Thursday.
"Last year (2018) being my first time at the championships I didn't fully understand how it all worked leading into it, so it was a real learning curve.
"But with that experience from last time I'm confident that I can get the placings I need.
"I've now got an archery range set up in my backyard, so I can shoot everyday and work on my form.
"Hopefully, that practice will pay off up in Queensland in March."
Watt, 43, is a bi-lateral amputee who remarkably survived tumbling 30 metres off Melbourne's Bolte Bridge on his brother's bucks night in February, 2010.
Seven months laid up in hospital in Melbourne, including three weeks in an induced coma, and extensive rehab to repair his broken body followed, and later came amputations on both his legs.
The sport of seated archery has given Watt renewed purpose and helped him out of the depression that followed his 2010 accident.
"It has certainly been a long road, but my doctor reckons archery is the best thing that has happened to me," Watt said in January, last year.
Watt - who is self-coached - earned his berth at the National Para Championships after recently winning the Waverley City Archers' Monash Trophy for the third year in a row.
Crucial to Watt's Tokyo 2020 aspirations is securing sponsorship to assist in his travel for competitions.

Next year's Archery Australia National Para Championships will be held from March 27 to 29.
The 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games start on August 25 and run until September 6.
