A dazzling unbeaten 43 from Will Collicoat lifted Bendigo to its first Twenty20 win of the season over Eaglehawk on Tuesday night.
The Goers looked destined to be Eaglehawk's third victim of the T20 competition when they slumped to 7-73 in reply to the Borough's total of 8-118.
However, Collicoat and Xavier Ryan (11 off eight balls) combined to add an unbroken stand of 51 off just 27 balls to guide the Goers home.
Collicoat only scored one run off his first eight balls and then launched 42 off his next 21 deliveries.
In total he faced 29 balls for his 43 and hit four sixes - the fourth six secured victory off the second ball of the final over.
Borough paceman Nick Farley had put his side in a winning position by taking 2-13 off his four overs, but the Goers' late surge proved to be the difference.
Earlier in the night, Aaron Monro (43 off 34 balls) was the only Borough batsman to score more than 14.
Bendigo marquee player Cade Mueller was the pick of the Goers' attack, with figures of 2-9 off four overs.
The result has left the race for top spot in pool A wide open.
Had the Hawks won they would have had a 3-0 record and a berth in next month's grand final was on the cards.
Now they must defeat Huntly-North Epsom in their final pool match to have any chance of making the final.
One of the Hawks (2-1), Golden Square (2-1) and Huntly-North Epsom (1-1) will top pool A.
In pool B, Kangaroo Flat's destiny is in its own hands.
The Roos (2-0) lead White Hills (2-1) and Strathdale-Maristians (1-1) on the ladder and they play the Demons and Suns in the final round next month.
