State Emergency Service volunteers attributed the incident to a combination of wind and today's scorching heat.
Part of Short Street was closed from the High Street intersection towards Creek Street North as emergency services attended, about 3.30pm.
A top of 40 degrees was forecast for Bendigo today. The temperature at 3.50pm was 37.7 degrees.
No-one is believed to have been injured as a result of the incident.
The car's bonnet is believed to have been damaged.
