Just a handful of this year's senior premiership team - Shannon Geary, Lachlan Sharp, Bryce Curnow, Fergus Payne, Ben Lester, Hunter Lawrence and Lachlan Gill - were on the training track.
When Geary joined Darryl Wilson as co-coach of the Storm he said his intention was to blood the club's young talent and, going by the huge number of young players at training on Monday night, he's going to have plenty to choose from.
Star forward Lachlan Sharp, who will co-coach the reserves with James Blood this year, took on an active role with the young players on opening night.
As did Bryce Curnow, who was restricted to light duties as he recovers from injury.
The most notable new face at Storm training was former Newbridge star Jordan Gilboy.
The midfielder/forward was a key part of the Maroons' 2018 premiership team in the Loddon Valley Football Netball League.
He kicked 74 goals in the premiership season playing as a permanent forward, but is expected to split his time with the Storm between the midfield and forward 50.
