Former Sandhurst paceman Nick Gladman was the hero with the bat for Victoria Country on day one of the National Under-19 Cricket Championships in Perth.

Batting at number nine, Gladman walked to the crease with Victoria Country in trouble at 7-129 chasing South Australia's total of 150 all out.
Victoria Country sunk further into strife a short time later when it lost its eighth wicket with the score on 133.
Gladman and number 10 batsman Cameron McClure dug in against some accurate South Australian bowling.
They slowly chipped away at the total and moved to within four runs of victory in the 42nd over.
On the final ball of the 42nd over, Gladman launched SA bowler Kyle Brazell for six to secure victory for his side.
Gladman finished 13 not out off 27 balls, while McClure was not out six as the pair added an unbroken stand of 20 for the ninth wicket.
Earlier in the day, Gladman bowled first change and had figures of 1-30 off six overs.
His Sandhurst premiership team-mate Todd Murphy bowled eight overs for figures of 0-16.
In reply, Victoria Country was cruising at 3-116 before it lost 5-17, including Murphy for a second-ball duck.
Gladman's heroics gave Victoria Country a crucial first-up win in the six-round competition.
Tuesday's round two game is against ACT/NSW Country, who lost to Victoria Metro by 36 runs in the first round.
