The Bridgewater community has banded together to reopen the town's post office.
The previous owner was going to close up shop due to personal reasons, but the community rallied in the past few months to keep the site open.
"It's just such an important service to the community," Bridgewater on Loddon Development Committee president Shannon Brown said. "It was important to keep the doors open in a small town.
"We offer banking services, phone recharges, and paying bills. It's so much easier without having to travel, especially with an ageing population.
"It's really great that our community has been able to come together and pull this off."
A number of local businesses and stakeholders formed a company to purchase the site. The post office had its official reopening on Monday.
"We had a great turn-out for our opening day," Ms Brown said. "We had great support from the community."
Ms Brown will be the new manager of the post office. She said while this would be her first time in the role, she was looking forward to the challenge.
"I don't know how I feel," she said. "I'm excited for the future and excited we can keep the doors open.
"I love working and talking with people so hopefully my conversation skills will come in handy!"
