The City of Greater Bendigo's annual Summer in the Parks program kicked off last night with the traditional lighting of the Christmas Tree in Rosalind Park.

The 2019/2020 Summer in the Parks program features more than 100 free or low-cost events during December, January and February.
Mayor Margaret O'Rourke said Summer in the Parks has a wide range of free events and activities, and was a perfect opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors and make the most of our city and region.
Throughout December there will be New Year's Eve fireworks, Christmas carols and some 'come and try' sports activities.
Community Christmas carols will also take place at various locations, starting with tomorrow's event in Maiden Gully, followed by Epsom Christmas Carols on Saturday, December 7, Axedale Christmas Carols on Sunday, December 8 and the Eaglehawk UFS Dispensary Christmas Carols on Sunday, December 8.
Strathfieldsaye Christmas Carols will be held on Wednesday, December 11, Heathcote's on Saturday, December 14 and the main Rotary Club of Bendigo Carols by Candlelight is scheduled for Sunday, December 22.
This year's program features a range of free activities such as yoga, fitness classes and laughter classes.
January's showcase includes outdoor cinema sessions in Redesdale, Lockwood South, Elmore, Axedale and Heathcote. February features music in the parks in Strathdale, Eaglehawk, Golden Square and White Hills.
